Nasca and Cusco

After Huancachina we were knackered so headed to Nasca. On the way we drove through the Nasca lines which spread over 500km sq area and can really only be appreciated from the air. Due to the expense we weren´t going to take the flight so we did no more in Nasca than go to the museum to see a model of the lines which was quite enough for me:a typical lunch costing 5-10 soles (ie 2quid):
From Nasca we got a horrific overnight bus to Cusco. I nearly vomited the whole way due to the stench and heat and being at the back of the bus whilst we swang round the hills. Urg. We had a quiet day in Cusco and caught up on sleep. I really like Cusco, it´s beautiful with a lovely atmosphere. The cathedral in Plaza de Armas:
Inka walls in the city:
On Thursday 12th we got a day ticket for some of the Inka sites around Cusco. The first we went to was Tambomachay which was up around 3.800m altitude:

From there we walked to Pucapucara:
From there we had a 45min walk to Q´enko:

And then the last and largest was Sacsayhuaman:We didn´t have a guide for any of the sites but I think, as with most of the Inka culture, the purpose of all the sites is just hypotheses and no one really knows. They were all very different and really interesting and the scenary was stunning.
Next to Sacsayhuaman was the look out over Cusco so we climbed up that and aferwards back into Cusco. It was a long day walking. We moved to the Loci hostel that evening and had a few drinks with people we had met in Huacochina.
