Tupiza and Potosi

We stayed at quite a nice place in Tupiza, Hotel Mitru, it was 4.50quid a night including a buffet breakfast and use of the pool which we greatly appreciated. After the salt flats tour and the day on the bus we were knackered so we had a day to relax and just chilled out by the pool and read books. We met a British girl called Saz who we got along with really well. After much discussion we discovered that she and I had gone to the same secondary school, what a small world! We went out for dinner with Saz and a french couple to a local joint and had a few beers, it was a perfect unwinding day!

The next day we went on a 4hr horse ride through the beautiful caynon countryside around Tupiza. Alexa had a horse that was rather pushy and scarily tried to cut up my horse whenever we cantered but it was fun. Here´s some of the pics:

That evening we went back to the same restaurant with the same group and had steak and sausage which was yum!
On Sunday 8th Mar we got a bus to Potosi which is back up in central Bolivia. It was a painless journey which was a surpirse! Potosi, I think, is the highest city in the world at 4070m and once was incredibly rich due to the silver mining. It´s now not paved in silver but seems to be quite well to do for Boliva and has some lovely architecture and a good market. We´re staying at a really chilled out hostel called Koala Den.
9th March is Alexas birthday so we are having another chilled out day including ice cream and cake and coffee stops! We´ve just wandered round the town and taken in the atmosphere, here´s some pictures of Potosi and it´s people:
The main Plaza is full of army and women celebrating/increasing awareness of International Women´s Day:

These are our favorite snacks, like cornish pasties but better:
