NZ - Christchurch and Hamner Springs

From Franz Joseph we spent the day driving across Arthurs Pass to Christchurch which unfortunately was cloudy and wet so we didn't see anything. We found Sue in Christchurch and caught up on the week. Sue's friends Cas and Emma where staying in the same hostel which was cool. We had a drink with them and then got persuaded to go on an organised bar crawl. It was $10 and you got 5 free drinks....do the maths, it's a bargain!

Christchurch is bizzare because it supposed to be a model British town so all the names are English. They even have a St Albans!
The next morning we went out for coffee and muffins with Cas and Emma and said goodbyes. Sue, Alexa and I then drove up to Hamner Springs which is about 90mins north of Christchurch. We found this really cute little hostel which a new owner who gave us free wine and real coffee. It was raining but we went to the springs and spent a good 3hours nattering and bathing!
The hostel turned out to be filled with a rather bizzare collection of individuals so it was an interesting evening. The next day we drove back to Christchurch and went to Lyttleton (rubbish) and Sumner (lovely). In Sumner we walked along the beach and ate chicken pies for lunch!

In the evening we dropped Sue off at the airport which was rather sad. We have seen her 3 weekends running and now I won't see her until Christmas!
