NZ - Franz Joseph glacier
On the Friday, we went and did a full day hike on Franz Joseph glacier. The weather was perfect apart from the wind and our day nearly was cut short but luckily it died down and we did the full day. We hiked on the glacier for about 6hours which was quite hard work. We had a fun group and a cool guide who took us through lots of crevasses and holes and caves. The glacier is really unusual because it is surrounded by rain forest and is only 20km away from the sea. It is also very steep so moves very rapidly although currently the movement matches the melting rate so it is stable.
