NZ - Cross country

From Christchurch we headed across country and took the scencic route via Mt Hutt to Lake Tekapo. We were lucky that we drove up out of the clouds into blue skies which just made everything look so much more stunning. Enroute photos: Lake Tekapo:

Church of the Good Shepard:

We then drove over to Lake Pukaki which wasn't quite as stunning due to the clouds hanging over it:

but actually still pretty good although we couldn't see Mt. Cook which was a shame. At least we got to see it from the otherside when at Lake Matheson.
We stopped for the night in Twizel and cooked a cake and watched t.v. and froze. The next day we headed off early the next morning in thick fog and eventually got through it into blue skies again:
We arrived in Wanaka around lunchtime, checked in and wandered around. We then went to climb up Mt. Iron to get some views over the Wanaka region:

We're staying in a cool hostel called Purple Cow so we just chilled out there for the evening and watched American Gangster in their cinema room.
