NZ - Taupo

We drove from Wellington to Taupo via the Tongaririo National Park to get some views of the mountains. It was a beautiful drive so although being 5hrs didn't feel that far.

First view of lake Taupo:
Taupo is the place to sky dive, mainly because it's the cheapest place, but also because you get amazing views over the huge lake and surrounding mountains. I was really nervous and excited and had no idea what to expect but it was an amazing experience. I wanted to go again as soon as we got down! We did 15,000ft so got about 60secs freefall. My dude was awesome, he let me pull the cord and release the parachute and then take the cords and steer us around. It was great! We were lucky enough to get a clearing in the clouds as well. All in all, amazing!

After sky diving we went for a walk to the Huka Falls which exceeded my expectations. The river, which flows out of Taupo lake, was the most amazing colour and the falls are actually rapids through a channel.

At the end of the walk we went to the natural hot springs and met a couple of girls from our hostel there:

That evening we went down to the bar and got free pizza. We ended up playing killer pool and we twinned up with two English guys to win a $50 bar tap which was awesome. We ended up dancing the night away in what turned out to be a good bar!

The next morning we headed off reasonably early and drove over to Naiper.
